Enforced disappearances are one of the major human rights concerns in Cameroon today (North West and South West regions in particular).While we have received very few complaints of enforced disappearances (families fear reprisals), the real numbers unreported are much more higher.

The decaying nature of the current Cameroon Anglophone crisis has witnessed a growing trend of enforced disappearance compounded by demands for ransom, torture and inhuman treatment.   Despite efforts by families of victims of enforced disappearances and the human rights community for the release of the victims, very little has been done by the government of Cameroon to address this concern. Belligerents of the crisis who are the main actors involved in this phenomenon give very little or no consideration to human rights and the respect for human dignity.

We are deeply concerned by this situation and demand the release of all missing persons without any delay and for criminal proceedings against those involved in the kidnappings and then enforced disappearances of their own citizens.
